2023 RC28 Summer Meeting

CID will host the 2023 RC28 Summer Meeting from August 14-17, 2023, at the University of Michigan. The conference will bring together a broad, international group of scholars investigating the dynamics of inequality. The theme, “Mobility, Inequality, and Equality,” also invites participants to confront often vague and implicit egalitarian commitments underlying this work by encouraging a more explicit consideration of what a more equal world would and could look like.

Besides standard conference sessions (parallel, plenary, posters) and keynote addresses (including by MacArthur Genius Award winner Prof. Elizabeth Anderson ), the conference will also feature a collaborative workshop on “Envisioning Equality” in the form of a charrette . Social events will include a guided tour of Detroit (by Otis Dudley Duncan Distinguished University Professor Emeritus Ren Farley) and a visit to relevant centers within the Institute for Social Research, namely Survey Research Operations and the Inter-university Consortium for Political and Social Research.

A formal call for papers will be circulated in late 2022.
